Therapy for Anxiety in Plymouth & Grosse Ile

What is Anxiety?

Do you wake up with racing thoughts in the middle of the night? Do you have stomach aches, headaches, or panic attacks? Is it hard to show up to social situations without feeling nervous or counting down the minutes until you can go home? Anxiety can show up in many different ways. It can make it difficult to act like ourselves even around the people we love.

Most of our clients may experience a manageable amount of anxiety on a daily basis, but notice huge spikes in feelings of worry, nervousness, or tension in times of high stress. They often describe feeling like they go from mostly okay to feeling like they are crawling out of their skin. They share that once they start to notice anxiety symptoms like tingling, fidgeting, or trouble breathing more thoughts and feelings start to snowball until it feels unbearable. We’ve heard everything from racing heart, it feels like something is sitting on my chest, hyperventilating, and just spacing out.

After beginning therapy many of our clients discover the root of the anxiety comes from past experiences, times of prolonged stress, or needing to prove they are good enough. Together you and your therapist can work to create more balance, learn coping skills that will help you to feel better in the day to day, and work towards getting to the root of the anxiety.
